Recon Drone 2223
Recon Drone 2223

Originally done as a modeling exercise many years back via Gnomon (Props for Games - Vol 1), I took inspiration drone design and changed the it for a more unique look. Instead of a high to low bake, I instead went with a midpoly modeling approach. The texturing process was done procedurally in Blender, conceptual materials with MaterialWorks and a rig from scratch. Post work (levels, curves, glows, vignette) done in Photoshop.

This project was to explore the potential for Blender's texturing and shading without the use of UVs, and to learn about rendering within the software. I was also able to really dig into DecalMachine and make many of my own decals (this model does use a couple that are packaged in with DM). Rigging this was a fun challenge, due to the two rotation points on the wings.

Exploring post process was also quite beneficial and has me wondering how far I can push things in future projects.
